Post Sagging Running Boards

My drivers running board is in rather bad shape (rust out over brackets) I am going to try and stiffen them. I have cut 1/16" steel, slid it under the zinc edge closets to the splash apron and clamped it to the top of the board. The board still sags I have placed a trolley jack under the front brace and lifted enough to take any slack out before I clamped but I must be missing something.

Buy your self some new boards! If you want the patina run a torch over the rubber matting and set it in salt water over the winter. It should have enough rust to please but still have plenty of strength to not sag.

Darn those things are expensive. I have the sagging fixed and one can stand on the board with out falling off.
