6 volt compaiison positive ground LED tail light, brake light stop light
This is a side by side comparison of LED bulbs vs 21/3 CP bulbs (the original bulbs that came with the car). The LED bulbs are "Plug and Play", as they fit the original sockets without any modification to the electrical system or the car. The advantage is they draw a fraction of the amperage (on your old wiring) and are allot brighter and cooler.
My car is a 1953 Mercury with a 6 volt positive ground electrical system. The sequence is Daylight then Night, running lights on, brakes lights, left turn signal and then right turn signal. Daylight = LED's on right, Night = LED's on left I bought the LED brake/stop/running lights from: www.ledlight.com Contact by Email SALES & SUPPORT - [email protected] Contact by Phone Toll Free 1 (877) 283-5060 Local 1 (602) 997-0366 https://www.ledlight.com/searchresul...KeyWords=64854 1154 LED Bulb 6 Volt. BAY15D base 1154. 60 LED Light bulb. Very bright up to 950 Lumens brake light. Up to 750 Lumens taillight. Operates 6V positive ground or 6V negative ground. BAY15D base 2 contacts tail light and brake light. One bayonet is higher than the other for 1157. Long life up to 30,000 hours. Comparable to a 35 to 55 watt halogen or incandescent lamp. CE and Rohs listed. The leds are optically aligned to the reflector for maximum led light output. Up to 70 CP candle power output. Dim-able with a variable voltage supply. The BAY15D base is 15mm diameter with one bayonet indexed and two contacts. The maximum overall length M.O.L. 1.944 inches. The maximum diameter is 1.058 inches. Compatible with: BAY15D Honda CT70 Honda Z50 utube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwQm...ature=youtu.be Last edited by Merc Cruzer; 09-11-2019 at 09:04 PM. |

Does the use of these bulbs require changing the flasher unit?

I am not sure when front turn signals/running lights, came standard on cars. But if you don't have front running lights/turn signals, on your car, this would be the solution: https://www.ledlight.com/led-load-eq...v-12v-24v.aspx LED Load Equalizer 6 Ohm 50 Watt 6, 12 or 24 V AC or DC Product Code: 74553 Price : $1.99 Description Use this 6 Ohm 50 Watt led load equalizer to eliminate hyper Flashing is due to the led bulbs are to energy effecient to be detected by the flasher. The flasher thinks there is a bulb out condition and flashes fast to alert the operator that a bulb is burned out. Since led lamps use 1/10th the power of a incandescent bulb the flasher thinks the bulb is burned out even though the led lights. Please use one 6 Ohm per led bulb that is used. Easy test to see if you need a load equalizer is leave one incandescent bulb connected on the left or right circuit. If the flasher flashes normal then you need to use load equalizers to decode or eliminate the fast flashing. This 6 Ohm equalizer is 50 Ohm package so the can dis-pate more power than the 25 Watt. or: LED Compatible Flashers for Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles LED Compatible flashers eliminates or decodes hyper flashing. Fast flashing is caused by the flasher cannot detect the energy efficient led lamps, led bulbs and led lights. Easy to remove the old flasher and replace with a new led compatible flasher relay. Depending on the flasher can operate from 6 to 24 Volts positive or negative ground. Most of the time when you use a led compatible flasher you do not have to use load equalizers.
