Well, here is your dilemma in that you need to define your goals first. Since it sounds like you want something that works, then I would go with vacuum and run the lines. The reproduction electric wipers generally only have about a 90 degree motion sweep meaning that most of the time the blade will be in your line-of-sight. Installing the vacuum lines is not terribly hard if you have some patience and a helping hand. I may be wrong but I was thinking Gary Johnson had some closed car vacuum motors that were NORS that would be ideal for this application. |

Re: wiper motor recommendation
fredski, may I recommend Ficken Wiper Service in West Babylon NY? They have done good work for many years. They did my 31s over 22 years ago and still is great. They only do vacuum type. Check their cost and may help to make a decision. Ron

Re: wiper motor recommendation
Just bought a rebuilt and guaranteed to work vacuum motor for my pickup for $140 on Ebay. Works fine.

Re: wiper motor recommendation
I got an electric made by Ames but for another car (chev, dodge, who knows) but it looks almost the same as the correct one for the car and had the same mounting "footprint". It has no integral switch, but just rigged a hidden toggle under the dash.
Looks correct to all but the purist, works good, and was cheap (about 25-35 bucks at a swap meet. You could look around for one like that. |

Re: wiper motor recommendation
Smurkey, that is what dad did on Missy when he restored her. She came with a vacuum originally but he put an electric on (from something) and then rigged a toggle switch under the dash.
