Default Tire price hikes coming at us

The local Farm Store tire manager told me last week to 'Hang on' because tires are about to take a big leap in price real soon.

Like they aren't expensive enough already.

I don't know percentage wise tonite how much but thought I would pass it along.

Has anyone else heard this??

I recently bought tires for my Model A and when I picked them up my supplier said I got them just before price from his supplier went up $20 per tire.
I bought tires for my modern last week and the price seemed average, but who knows what difference a few weeks will make.

My tires are abt 16 years old. They are still in nice shape but I got curious. So I looked at the date codes, and then checked out Coker, and Snyders. WOW! Snyders it's $1,047, and Coker is $1,217.

It’s called inflation, no pun intended. When the government prints money like it’s free it devalues what you have in your bank account. I saw where one South American country removed 6 digits from their currency just so they could calculate.

If a producer of pretty much anything wants to get more money from their product all they need to do is send out a press release to the news agencies saying that there might be a shortage. If one of them uses it as a story... bingo prices go up.

These all must be fake posts as the administration says there’s not really any inflation.

Well, if at least Model A Ford values go stagnant I guess that may bring more folks into the hobby

I was going to throw a set of used tires away I guess now I'll stick them in the corner of the garage. They are Rayon and have no cracks or show any aging. Another Model A Ford part not to toss. The pile is getting bigger.

We have to pay for all the "free" stimulus money. Free money comes with a price.

I work in the cycling industry and while tires and tubes have been impossible to find since the pandemic started we have received word of the rubber/latex "shortages" in Malaysia combined with the untenable shipping situation will impact pricing.

Wholesale tube prices have nearly doubled.

When people want things and you don't have the or can't get them then pricing follows.

spoke with the shipping broker yesterday by phone- told me a shipping container coming out of china was 2250. one year ago. today he says its 23000. he also said the chinese
are holding back on their ships..........causing a shortage everywhere of chinese goods, worldwide, including europe. another reason for tire prices going up..........
they control 3 of 4 ships worldwide.

how to destroy perfectly good economies worldwide, by our dear friends........

IMO, the Chinese play a very cunning long game and we democracies have no hope against them because our "leaders" can't look past the next election, then, if there is a change of party, the first thing the new one does is undo all the previous one did. Back to square one!

Speaking of shortages. One of my garage door openers broke the other day. I had the guy come out/in to pronounce it dead. The motor control board is dead. He said that I am lucky. His company is one of the few that has the material to make the door springs. The end pieces on the springs all come from China and they have been unavailable for some time. If you are thinking of putting in a new garage door - do it sooner than later.

My neighbor sells a lot of custom built windows. What he has to do now,and he hates it,is to ask the customers right up front when they need them.If it's a simple job to measure and figure,it only takes him six hours to do a quote. He can easily spend 15 or 20 hours consulting with a customer to write a quote. He's in the same boat with small hardware. He is being told it could be 5 months out.I can't get some parts for a Stihl chainsaw because of a PVC supply problem.

Ph. Company I'm working for now need a set for the 2018 Chevy 3/4 ton.

A technician went to the local tire shop last month and the quote was for $1824. Granted they are a heavier ply truck tire but still

And like Vic said, a guy that lives close to me has been waiting on overhead garage door parts since about May, to fix his door. They still aren't here. Coming from China of course.
