Default Reversed generator output post

Is a generator that has the output post mounted on the front of the generator, so that the cutout relay is 'backwards' (wire connections are made on the side towards the firewall of the car not the radiator side) a Model A generator? Is it an Autolite gennie?

Why was that done? I see it on more and more Model A Fords. Looks 'weird'. I know it still works fine just curious where that came from.

Most also had the rear ball bearing, 29-30 --- look in the judging standards, the parts got changed around a lot by rebuilding

The one with the stud in the front was used from October 1928 through March 1930,
the one with the stud towards the rear was used from March 1930 through the
end of production.
