sold our Town Sedan in less than 48 hours here on the Barn.
ronn is exactly right- it must be priced with today's market to sell anywhere.

So was this the '31 slant you sold. Curious as to condition and the price you got.

so you can sell a 100 grand car and pay only 125. in my case 50.

but try and sell a pair of woodlite headlights for 15k and now you owe nearly 15% on 15k........... yes its nutty, but thez the rules.

I also used to sell car parts there. gave it up for lent about 10 yrs ago. I buy every week and only sell a vehicle every now and then. ebay has shot themselves in the foot many times over, but they have the mkt cornered and you play by their rules or go home.
when considering a venue like Hemmings, that dont have the nearly 6 million audience that ebay has. nor does CL or even an auction. auctions gouge buyers so badly, that you have to be nutz to buy at auction.
PayPal is no longer tied into eBay as far as selling items. If you sell something it goes straight into you personal account minus eBay fees

After my ebay account was hacked, I unlinked my card from paypal. If I want to use it again, I will link it, make the payment, then unlink again.
I distrust anything on line.

I would list it here on the swap meet page and with any place that has free ads. Sold my phaeton on Hemmings. Where every you list it include as many pictures as you can and specificity have pictures of both sides of the engine compartment and interior. Ask a fair price and it will sell.

There are two things that the price is engraved in stone on,British bikes and Model A's.I always thought the old A guys were chislers, but now I think the Brit boys have them beat hands down.I really don't like to sell a car long distance,I want you to crawl all over it,under it,run and drive it if it is a runner.I prefer you put your hand on it,because what you see is what you get,and what you don't see you get anyway.I decided to go that way with Model A's because I would give somebody a firm price, then they would try to spend 3 hours telling me what is wrong and why I need to sell it to them cheap.I've had A guys want to dismantle engines I had for sale to inspect.I was selling those engines for $75,a gamble.I had a couple of disasters with ebay,so I gave that up about 15 years ago.

I respect haggling ("You're listing at $X and I'm wondering if you'd take $Y"), but I've never understood the urge to tell somebody why $X is objectively wrong. Like, all these prices are made up. It's not a barrel of oil. Your willingness to buy and my willingness to sell depend on variables like whether we recently ate lunch and how long your drive home is.

Keith,
sold a cabrio to England last week, through ebay. 1 yr ago sold a 29 dodge to England.

both were very easy sales and the haggling wasnt bad at all, whereas here in the states, you might as well give it away. maybe it was just my luck or maybe times are a changing.............
or has the pound stabilized?

I've had A guys look at cars that I advertised for $12,000 offer $2500.If they offered $10,000 I can just say no thank you.I've sold quite a few A's for other people, and maybe 10 or a dozen for myself. It seems to take less time and go much smoother when I let them know it will be a yes or no.I don't have the only A out there for sale, and they aren't the only buyers out there.I have never sold an A that I did not get my price for.I do get a lot of guys that want the cars for rods, they say,I only want the body.I just say I don't care what you do with it,as long as I get what I want out of it.I sold a 29 coupe for over $8000.that had been in a garage for over 50 years. He only wanted the body.

About 20 years ago I sold an A10 BSA to a man in Europe through ebay.I had stated no foreign sales, but he contacted me and asked if I would OK his bids if everything was handled through a collector in Pennsylvania. He Everything went smoothly, and he later told me he got more than he expected in the deal.I sold a twin to that bike to a man in Wisconsin,he did nothing but cry and complain for a year.I asked if I had described it honestly,he said yes, but.I said but what? He just said he thought it was too much money.I sold a 29 A pickup on ebay twice. Both buyers thought the winning bid bought them the chance to come look at it and make an offer.I sold a Volvo PV 444 on ebay, the buyer contacted me,asked if he sent me a check right off would I store it for about a month. No probem,A month later he called and asked if I would load the car for the hauler,no problem, went smoothly.

How do these guys pay and how do you know it is legit.I sold a car three years ago and the guy handed me an envelope with $20,000 in hundred dollar bills.Guess that wouldn't happen with a foreign sale?
