Identifying a carburetor
My dad purchased a Model A 60 years ago, and it had this carburetor inside. It doesn't look like either the Zenith or Tillotson images I've seen online, and it doesn't have anything written on it. How can I identify what type it is?

Re: Identifying a carburetor
Yes that is a marvel. Common aftermarket carb that gives a little more power.

Re: Identifying a carburetor
As others said, Marvel Schebler. Supposedly even had a Ford part number for a replacement for the Zenith. Also know as an Allstate (sold by Sears) or Johnson. It doesn't have anything written on it because they put a decal on them for the different "Brands". 80 years later most have 'lost' their stickers
Smooth running carburetor. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 08-09-2021 at 09:10 AM. |

Re: Identifying a carburetor
You can get parts for a re-build from Renners Corners in Michigan.

Re: Identifying a carburetor
Be careful when rebuilding not to over tighten the top screws. Marvels tend to warp and leak like Tillotsons. I cut my own gaskets from Cork/Buna-N as I find the the hard paper gaskets hard to seal.
