Marvel Mystery Oil
Just picked up some Marvel Mystery Oil, have read a lot of talk about it on the barn. Just wanted to know how much to use and how often to use it in the gas tank.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
I always use it with about 120 cm³ to 40 l tank volume. Highly recommended because hardly any combustion residues remain.

Four oz. per fill up is pretty typical.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
I've seen it recommended to use four ounces to each ten gallons of gas . Marvel mystery oil is good to prevent sticky valves . I use Marvel mystery oil most of the time .

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
I use the recommendations on the bottle. The side of the bottle has a handy level scale to help you pour in the correct amount.

I was buying my tractor, a 1938 allis Chalmers, Mod. B. The engines on these tractors are prone to seizing after sitting for long periods. This one was seized, so I put MMO in each cylinder and let it sit, came back and spun it a few times ("Armstrong starter") and it was OK. I would not like to be without it! But it's not technician in a jar. As I said, it has it's uses! BTW, They've been making the stuff since 1923. I always factor longevity into a product's claims. It can't be all bad! Terry |

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
I have a '74 ford 1 ton that my son wanted to use. It had been sitting for years. We pulled it out of the shed, drained the old gas and put fresh gas in it and a battery and started it up. Started but ran like crap. Would not run under 1000 RPM at all. Had my son hold it at about 2500 RPM while I poured MMO into the carb. Would pour until the engine would start to slow, then wait for it to "catch it's breath" then pour some more. Used about 250ml (8 oz) and when the smoke cleared (literally) it idled perfectly.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
In the A I used to literally go glug, glug, glug, glug when ever I gassed up.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
A number of years ago a couple club members were on a trip from LA to Las Vegas in their Model A's. They pulled into Barstow almost out of gas. One of them poured MM into the gas tank before he started fueling. When he pulled out onto the highway he went about 100 yards down the road when the engine quit. They fooled with the car for the next 30 minutes until they realized the MM had apparently run directly into the fuel line. Once they drained the carburetor and allowed fuel to get in there the engine started.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil
I do what 1931flamingo does. I use either MMO or SeaFoam, whichever is on sale. The A starts first time every time and seems to idle smoother.. I will attest to having a gas EZ-GO utility cart which runs significantly better using either one, especially in the winter.
