Re: How to fix ribs??
I wouldn't cut them out unless they was no other way to repair them. I'd first try to make a tool to buck the back side so it can be smoother out in place. Cutting is a last resort. Those 1937 grills are pretty delicate. If you remove one, you will need equipment and skill to weld thin small parts without melting the stuff. If there is plating on it, it will have to be completely removed. If it is stainless, you will need to fabricate tooling to deal with each problem that is different such as dent or twist. If you fabricate a tools with the proper width, radius, & curvature to fit in the backside of the bars, you can work them but you will have to gentle on those small grill bars. If the bars are spot welded in place then they can be removed and spot welded back but it takes experience with welding stainless or what ever material it is. Resistance welding equipment isn't cheap.

Re: How to fix ribs??
Ha ha Ya I agree. It's a quick rib fl method. You'd be surprised how good it is and quick/easy to do, probably most common restaurants you get "ribs" at do it. I prefer to marinate 24hrs and then smoke them with applewood. Unless I want to make ribs in 2hrs. Try it before saying, never say never. Last edited by Tinker; 06-15-2018 at 10:05 PM. |

Re: How to fix ribs??
I have several grille sections, one really nice top section (about a foot or so) with nice straight bars that would be good for repairs/replacements. If you're interested I can shoot you a couple photos.

Re: How to fix ribs??
Had to measure between where he cut his off and where to cut mine. Put the two parts together many times with the bottom bolted to the fenders. Then put the top part on until it all matched up, and weld. Had the wire feed to low at first, and got rat turds. Ground them off and raised the heat up a notch. Had to move faster to avoid burn threw, but all is done now. Both sides. Now sand prime and play with the fenders what seems like forever to get everything all together. Thanks again Bill. If it wern't for your lower section. I would have to have used one of those fake grills.

Re: How to fix ribs??
Just got an add from DRAKE. He's now making the 1937 Ford grille.
Not cheap but if it fits like his 40 DeLuxe grille it might be worthwhile if you have no other options. https://www.bobdrake.com/FordItem.as...5-6ccc59743f53 |

Re: How to fix ribs??
Wow.. That is expensive. I have the Grille I made in primer now. I will take a pic and send it. About to readjust the fenders to make everyone fit right.
