Pulling granny without the engine.
I was wondering if it is possible to pull the transmission with the engine still in the car.

Re: Pulling granny without the engine.
Thats the way I usually do it. I pull the rear/driveline. I find it easier and faster. I also recommend leaving the spring attached to the axle, especially if you don't have a spreader. Remove the wheels and the car doesn't have to be jacked too high and the axle will slide out far enough.

From the title, I thought your grandmother was stuck.

Re: Pulling granny without the engine.
That's how I change a clutch, drip rear end and go for it. Fastest way. Enjoy.

Re: Pulling granny without the engine.
Due to a recent breakdown I ended up dropping the rearend to determine cause, which turned out to be the U joint. In the process, although still in working condition but showing signs of wear and a rather noisy second gear, seems like a good time to rebuild the trans. Be advised, the bolts holding the bell housing to trans are wired inside so I had to remove them as a unit.
