Ford leveled the Cleveland Casting plant... on the plus side we still have Engine plant 1 and 2. Amazingly large commerical truck production was moved from Mexico to Avon Lake, Ohio...

I am glad to hear this. The Ranger was liked by small contractors that did not want to use all the gas a big truck uses. Ford is smart to have a vehicle for every price range.

I questioned that decision, too. Ford barely changed the Ranger over the life of the vehicle. The R&D that went into that truck had been written off long ago. After almost abandoning cars, Ford seems to have figured out how to make a profit on cars again, albeit probably a small one. I have a 2013 Focus and it is a nice car.

What's sad is the base for a new F150 is the same for the C Class Mecerdes Benz $32k.

You must be buying at the wrong place. I bought a new F150 Supercab, 5 months ago, with 4WD,XLT, with Custom Chrome package, Heated sets, camera, Electric windows, seats, etc, etc, and paid less than that.

i dunno v8 4wd fullsize truck with power options is about 35K+ here...

ill believe it when i see it, they've been saying the bronco will be back for the last 14 years that i know of...

if they bring the ranger back will they do the same as GM did to the colorado and make it as large as the 90's full size trucks while claiming its "midsized". biggest mistake GM and ford did was kill the s10 and ranger, we no longer have a compact or small pickup.

AH, still got my '91 S-10 in the driveway... one of the best vehicles I ever owned. I get offers on it occasionally, but I like my 4.3 v6. I had a Ranger and didn't like it.

i love the old square body s10's, although my 95 2.2L 4 banger 5 speed has 217k miles on it and been a great little truck. rust is taking over badly tho and i fear the frame is going to go before the engine or trans does... just replaced factory clutch at 208K miles...i too love the 4.3, plenty of power and reliable as can be.

ive had friends that have had rangers, not bad little trucks just not my cup o tea. that 3.0 is a tad gutless in the 4x4 version...

Sorry Y'all, a bit off topic. There's so little rust out here in the New Mexico desert, so I just might restore my '91 s-10 4.3. With 160k, and one sticky valve, the body's great and paint is faded. Bench seat is getting torn up, and dash is a cracked mess (and 'powder blue' is not my favorite color). She is a hidden dwarf amidst today's trucks.. gotta love it!

I would love to see the full sized Bronco return, with much better mileage.

theres been alot of concepts made over the years that never pan out. i love the looks of them but like ive said theyve been promising a bronco for the last 14 years... least i can safely say they wont release the bronco II that was mostly glass and liked to be upside down more than rightside up lol

The Ford Ranger is currently being produced in Asia and is very successful. All I can say is that "it ain't your daddy's Ranger". It should be received well when made in the U.S. and provide some serious competition to the Chevy and Dodge intermediate trucks.

i looked at pics of the current non us ranger and it looks very close to the Colorado, flared rear side windows, swooping headlights and front end that looks like an suv...and looks ridiculously big of course haha. dodge killed the dakota in 2011 and havent replaced it yet. chevy killed the 1st gen colorado in 2012, ranger died in 2012 also. they all claimed noone was buying them...well no crap why would anyone when thier priced only $3000 less from the same optioned fullsize!

like i read somewhere, offer a 2001 era ranger, s10, dakota sized pickup with bare bones heat, basic radio, manual windows, manual seat, manual locks, manual mirrors for 18K and it will sell like hotcakes. its been proven time and time again with cars, people love simplicity, longevity, reliability!

I think you guys will like the New Ranger, it's doing very well over here, despite the fact Ford has walked away from UK production.

The small truck market has really dropped off. Even the Japanese, who pioneered that market, don't seem to have much, even though I don't pay that much attention to them.

When I was looking for a used truck a few years ago, I looked at a Ranger, but ended up buying an F150. If you need to haul some stuff, which is what I wanted to do, there is nothing like a big truck, although I think they have gotten too big.

Small trucks alive and well here , I think the size of the Ranger will surprise you, pretty big by our standards

When the ranger was introduced, it was small and simple and cheap. It grew over the years, and so did the f150. Most people are not satisfied with a plain pickup today, and want power windows, A/C, automatice trans, 4x4, cup holders, heated seats, electric seats, rear view cameras, carpeted floors, and more. We have a 97 ranger that is very plain. It is a good size, has the reliable 4 cylinder engine, and has no bells and whistles. We plan to keep it as long as possible.
