Auction score
I went to an auction this morning that had a bunch of old car parts. Some model A stuff, some v-8 stuff. I picked up a bunch of old car magazines including a few boxes of The Restorer and Model A News. Paid 5 bucks for all of them.

Re: Auction score
Yea, I got a few other items.
Most of the parts were selling for much more than I thought they were worth. There were plenty of buyers there, so the old car hobby must still be alive and well.

I've only been to a few auctions in the past 15 years, and was able to buy very little. |

Re: Auction score
I saw the same at the last auction w/ Model A parts, like Tom is saying. There were a few decent buys, overall stuff was going pretty strongly.
Went to a farm sale a couple weeks ago not far from me, fellow had a stroke and everything had to go. He had a fairly nice 1930 Fordor that had been restored about 15 years ago. Paint and body work still looked very good but the mice sure did a number on it. That or rats. Interior smelled so bad you about gagged. They really chewed it up and left pecan shells stuffed in every corner. Motor hadn't been run in ten years, it did turn over. Motor oil looked fresh on the dipstick. Had a lot of rust-in- the- gas tank issues as he (yikes) had replaced the shut off valve with a standard NPT gas valve, and an inline fuel filter inside the car. I cringe when I see that. Car sold for close to $8,000. Probably not a bad buy. And in answer to vin-tin,,,, nice score!! You'll be kept in reading material all winter. |

Re: Auction score
I take my old magazines to the VA hospital each time I go, and leave them in the waiting room for Veterans to enjoy.
