Default Head difference ,once and for all.

Does any have a chart showing the combustion chamber size in different stock Flathead heads? I've seen so many contradictory information on here and other sites. Are EAB, 8BA and 8RT the same or different? Has anyone checked the volume? Thanks.

Many of us have, and their all over the place. I do find EAB heads to be very consistent.

"once and for all"

LOL, if you notice the same questions appear (on about every topic, not just heads) at least several times a month! Good luck with "once and for all".

Maybe they are just that inconsistent, I've heard 8RT and EAB are different but a while back I got a syringe and measured the two and they were almost identical volume wise.

I think your last post just answered your question. At this late date, the only way to be sure of anything is to actually measure them yourself. It ain't that hard. I have two sets of Edmunds heads that, while they look identical, have chambers that are over 10 cc's different. One set (at least) had been milled at one time.

You would need to know if the heads had ever been surfaced or milled. To make a comparison you would need to check several of each style. Very few of these engines have not been rebuilt at least once and most of them several times.

Hi all; My 'quick' Swap meet check is to measure the diameter of the compression dome in the heads. Should be close to a stock eng bore 3 3/16/ or 3 5/ 16" Milling shows up quickly. Lost of mismatched 'Pairs" Newc
