Default 6 volt bulbs

Found some 6 volt LED bulbs that were a direct replacement.

I also fitted some 6 volt LED bulbs to my original gauges in my 34 FORD. The original bulbs were very dull to my old eyes but the little LEDs fixed that. Make sure the LEDs are suitable to POS. or NEG ground to suit your car. Some are OK with both polarities. Regards, Kevin.

Got them from Amazon. Search for 6 volt LED. On the taillight bulbs search for 6 volt 1157 LED. They have staggered pins unlike the original sockets. So I just replaced my taillight buckets with the reproductions that have staggered sockets.

Nice to know about the LED bulbs. I'll get some. To solve the staggered pins problem I've always just ground the offending pin. Worked for me.

LEDs make a big difference. I bought different ones from superbrightled.com a few years ago, however I believe the cheap China made product overheated and caused the bulb to burst and fail. Just something to keep an eye on to make sure they hold up.

Ken did you use red or white like the originals. These bulbs should be much cooler than the originals. Did you notice the difference?

They do have 1156 in 6 volt but they’re single contact not dual contact like the taillight/ brake light bulbs are.

Recently bought some 6 volt 1129 LED bulbs for my '41 p-u brake lights. Was disappointed because I don't see any improvement in lumens compared to the incandescent bulbs.
I did order some 'extra bright' ones on Amazon today, so we'll see. No pun intended.

FWIW, my new 51 converted to 12 v came with red LEDs inside the taillight lens. Couldn’t see them, so I replaced them with white LEDs. What a difference, so don’t think about using red LEDs inside a red lens.
