The rims should be the split ring type. Split rim is a different critter. The use of a tube with a rubber stem depends on the size of the stem and whether it will fit though rim hole. It has to be long enough for easy service but not too long to make servicing difficult that way either. Basically, if it fits then it works as long as it is sized for the tire properly.

Split rims are dangerous , split ring not so much if you get ring seated in groove wrap tire and rim with a chain around them not real tight .Put air in without needle in stem to lock ring in place then put valve needle in. Be very cautious doing this , take your time or take it to a truck tire shop which should have a tire cage.
