Have a 28 chassis, engine, front fenders, headlights, radiator are installed. Need to move it 400 miles.

A little concerned about putting it on an open car hauler with the radiator just sticking up like a sail against the wind. Really don't want to bend it up or foul it against the fan.

Any thoughts? Are my concerns warranted or am I just being a chicken?

Other alternative is trying to get it in the moving van. Bekins guy who gave us a quote suggested calling AAA have them load it on a flat bed and then they can roll it from the flat bed into the van. Need to call AAA and see if that's a possibility. (bekins guy wants to do the same with my tool chest)

I would remove the radiator so you dont have to worry about it being damaged.

I once towed a chassis 100 miles behind a Toyota pickup using a tow bar.

The 2 radiator rods will hold the radiator just fine. Even the top hose should keep it in place. Otherwise just stuff 3 layers of cardboard between the fan and radiator.

Since there is no firewall to support the radiator rods I think I would remove the radiator or tape a foam block to the fan. Easy tow!

The hose will hold it just fine.If you want both belt and suspenders run a bungee cord from the headlight bar behind the radiator back to the headlight bar again.

Thank you for the replies.

Spent some time on the phone with AAA and a couple of tow truck companies. While it's not something they do everyday, it's not unusual for them to use a flat bed tow truck to help load a vehicle in a moving van. Looks like that's what we're going to do.

I'll be glad when this move crap is done.

Niel, I'm bringing the car from Modesto back to Socal and am already in Modesto. I appreciate the offer of the tow bar. I'd say maybe next time but hopefuly it will be back together soon and it's tow/haul days are done.
