This seems to work better, gives more adjustment.

Nice job on the hold down.

I have heard some members make their own springs. I don't know how that is done.

Please post up whatever spring option you find that works.

Will do Scotty, weather was nice today so I ran it some more, the hold-down clamp works OK but think I will eventually make a setup like yours. Next I need to figure out where 24 degrees is at on the pulley. I set the stop on the advance mechanism at 10 degrees, that's 20 on the crank, got it a bit before the dot on the pulley so I should be close.
