Default Cowling Strip

Does anybody know what size socket is used to remove the retaining nut on a cowling band ?

If I remember correctly on my spare band it is like 7/16 or 1/2".

1/2 inch. Use a 1/4 size socket set with a 4-6 inch extension, makes access easier, LUBE with Kroil for a day or so. You don't want to snap that stud, having a friend press on the lower end of the band will help keeping it from twisting. Bob

Thanks for the quick replies, I tried a half inch drive socket set with both 7/16 and 1/2 inch sockets with no luck. I will try the 1/4 inch drive set and see if that helps. Mike

I would use a 6 point socket as the nuts may be rusted.
