Default Transmission lockedup

I was backing out of my garage this am and was in reverse gear. I tried to shift out of reverse and now I think i'm locked up in 3rd gear I think. I tried to move the gear shift and it just is sloppy.
I tried to depress the clutch and the wheels are locked and the car wont roll. My son who is very strong was able to slide the car back into my garage by bouncing it. HELP

I'd take to top off the transmission and take a peak inside, it's
probably in two gears. You may need to rebuild the shift tower.

Your shifting forks and the ball on the end of the shift lever are worn so much the shift lever has jumped out of position. You have to remove the shift tower and rebuild or replace the shifting forks and the ball at the end of the shift lever.

If you don't have time to do it right the 1st time, how do you have time to do it the 2nd time?

Before you get involved in pulling the tower apart, slide up the lower shift lever metal sphere cover and see if the locating pin fell out... I have seen them laying on the floor and it just needed to be put back in and peened.
When the shifter slid out the trans locked in two gears. You'll have to play and getter back in neutral then reinstall the pin. If this is what happened it can be done without taking anything apart

I also suspect this is what happened. You may have difficulty removing the tower as one of the shifting rails may be sticking in through the holes in the bell housing. The slider gears have to be in neutral for the tower to come off. If this is the case, remove the inspection plate from the back of the bell housing and see if either rail is sticking out. If it is you will have to worry it back into the transmission with a hammer handle or crow bar.
