Questions: Les Andrews mentioned lubriplate for assembly, is that like assembly lube? Also is there an alternative to 600 weight lube?

Yes lubriplate, like you would use assembling an engine. Several manufacturers make a modern equivalent to the 600w. (They used to call it steam cylinder oil) You likely won’t find it in your local auto parts store. If you have a commercial distributor they can get it but I think you have to buy 5 gallons. Most all the A suppliers sell it by the quart for 8 or 9 bucks. The 5 gallons probably cost you $100.

Any light grease will work for assembly, chassis grease, vaseline, etc.

you can use 680 industry machinery oil.

I did a mix of grease and gear oil in mine yesterday. Installed the light rod tube versus seal as well.

Had to replace the column as it was cracked. Good times.
