Default 1940 Wheel Detail

Are wheels supposed to painted body color completely or just on the face ?

The entire rim was painted. As Alan had advised, all five rims were painted body color on the Deluxe models and black on the Ford V8 models.
However, for an additional $5, the wheels would be painted body color (to match) on the Ford V8 models if so desired.

To my knowledge there are three stripes on the wheels. Two narrow stripes with a wider stripe in the middle.

Never on any '40 rim.
In '41, only on a Super Deluxe rim.

On page 1-52 of the '40 book it shows a spare wheel mounted in a '40 sedan. Looking at the photo it does appear that there is striping on the wheel. Or is a reflection from the trim ring?

Note: Post War wheels have 'outie' lug nut surfaces and Pre-war lug studs are too short for Post-war wheels. Watch for lug nuts that only thread halfway on. Newc

That's a reflection.
I did my very best when taking photographs for that book. Still, no one could possibly mistake me for a great photographer.
