29 coup rad
Where some repop rads made too tall/high?
As best I can measure, ours is 23 1/2 in from top of the rad mounting frame to the top of the tank. I installed a new rad shell and had to enlarge the crank hole 3/4 in down so hand crank would line up with the frame hole. Also the shell sides are 3/4 in above the sills. The body was raised at the front so the hood would fit properly. Also the springs in the hood jatches had to be shortened to reach the hood hold downs. I didn't put rubber pads between the rad frame and chassy, just grease. Are there two size rads that fit the 29's? I hope this isn't a repreat thread Wilf |

Re: 29 coup rad
Where did you get your new radiator and shell?

Re: 29 coup rad
Sounds like your A is a 29 and the radiator is a 30/31. All Model A radiators are not the same. The 30/31 radiators are taller than the 28/29 radiators.

Re: 29 coup rad
Checked a 31 rad totally different,so that is not the case.
The car came with this rad so I don't know the history, so I guess it is just a bad repop. The rad sheel came from snyders, fits the rad except the crank hole was too high, but not a big problem. Dremmeled the hole down and the cover, covers the enlarged hole. Does anyone know where I can get some measurements for a 28/29 rad? |

Re: 29 coup rad
you mentioned that the body had to be raised to make the hood fit. sometimes hood/radiator/radiator shell fitment is screwy because the frame has sagged in the area of the rear motor mounts. it throws the whole nose of the car out of whack. not an easy fix on an assembled car.
there are fine repro radiators out there, I am wondering if your problem lies elsewhere. |

Thanks for that thought, it very well could be. I'll do some more investigating. |
