Just make sure that the red cable on the charger is connected to the + side of the battery.

It's a standard conversion kit. Not a fan of 10SI drop in regulators however.
Before I spent $50 on a kit I'd just buy a 10SI and switch to negative ground...
Better yet buy a mini alternator. They look clean under the hood and not a monster 10SI hanging in the engine compartment. Look for a 12199 on eBay, pulleys vary but this should work.

I also have heard that these original single wire Delco alternators are getting to be scarce at the wrecking yards. The are considered too old.

This is an interesting comment! No OEM vehicles ever used single wire alternators. The ancient 10/12SI was so popular that every part is now chino-repoped and you can buy new ones cheap. Any single wire alternator is either a convert or built from new repop parts.

I agree with Willie, the 10/SI is big and ugly. Here is a picture of the Denso Mini Willie referenced in his last post. ($71 free ship, LINK) I painted this one black and used a B pulley. It is NOT a single wire and does not suffer from the low RPM excitation problem, nor does it have the battery-boiling high V-set point found on most one wire jobs. It does require some knowledge of alternator terminals and wiring, and a connector plug ($8) Not a brain-dead drop in.
