Default what nails to fasten wood on body ?

I have started to install the new interior wood in my Victoria but looking at the side mounting holes that run along the body at the belt rail area and above windows area are much larger and the nails sold by the suppliers have heads that just barely hold as they are too small. I cant find any info to tell what nails should be used.

If you are referencing the old nail holes in the body sheetmetal, they are maybe large due to movement or rust enlarging them over all these years. You could offset the new nails to fresh metal.

yes I am referencing the original nail holes that run along the body above the quarter windows and along the back to fasten the rear belt rail. The holes are factory size, not enlarged by rust or any wear. What type of nails were used at the factory install ?

Bratton's shows body nails with .165 head. Just slightly over 1/8". I used them on my '30 TS.

I take it you are working on a leather back. you don`t to put a whole lot of nails in when installing the wood. the hole are big so you can find them when installing the top material and hid`em or drip rail, at that point you have a lot of nails or tacks holding all together. you can drill some smaller holes between the large ones if need be

JW: I ended up purchasing some1.25 inch lath nails (The lath must be the metal sheeting or screen used on interior wall finishing) I see what you mean by the other nails for roof material and hide-m welt. I have an article I wish to submit to the Victoria Bustle on the rear window metal body frame. Is Tom Endy still the editor ? and i heard he was ill - If I had his email address I could forward it to him
