55 Ford car guages
Does anybody know what the factory suggested ohmmeter readings should be for the fuel gauge at the "empty", "full" and halfway marks and for the temperature guage "cold", "hot" and normal marks. I don't think this is given in the shop manual.

Re: 55 Ford car guages
Temp gauge, no clue.
Fuel gauge. They work on heat and current flow thru bi-metal contacts in the sender and another bi-metal strip in the gauge. The resistance of the coil in the gauge should be constant. Assuming the 'full-sized car' version is the same, the T-Bird parts catalog I've got says the coil resistance of a '55 fuel gauge should be 11 to 12 ohms. .
