Spring in universal housing {Added pictures}
We changed our transmission and clutch back to the multi disc setup, Someone had changed it over the years. As we were taking it apart we noticed a spring fall out of the rod that fits in the socket on the side of the universal joint housing as indicated in picture. Is the spring the only part that is suppose to be in the end of this rod and is there a part number for this spring and what ever else is suppose to be in there. What is the springs purpose Thanks Billy

Re: Spring in universal housing
That's part of the early brake linkage.
Did someone change the brakes over to the one piece cross shaft? |

Re: Spring in universal housing {Added pictures}
You are referring to brake cross shaft socket spring A-2483. It fits into a small recess in the ball of the cross shaft.

Re: Spring in universal housing {Added pictures}
The spring also puts outward tension on the cross shafts to keep them from rattling.
