Early 28 Transmission
I have an early 28 transmission, from the engine to the torque tube, that I'm not going to use.
It worked fine when in the car, the flywheel is about 50%, I don't know the condition of the discs. What is a fair asking price? Thanks guys. |

$20..No more. Buyer should pay for all shipping costs, or pick up on site. Better yet, give it away, and make a friend.

Looks like you are in Denver, Berts could give you a price they buy used parts. Phil just retired from there and was an avid early guy so Steve probably picked up a lot of knowledge on the early stuff over the years.

Re: Early 28 Transmission
Without seeing the gears, bearings, and shafts it would be about a $20 gamble as Glenn said. If it's really nice inside then I'd pay more, if I needed it. The two pedals with good ribs are worth $20 or more. A flywheel with notches isn't worth much to me, but it took me two years to find a mint one and I payed a lot for it.

Re: Early 28 Transmission
The prices offered here all seem way too cheap to me I would think that a transmission ALONE in working condition that didn't jump out of gear, would be worth NO LESS than fifty dollars, probably more. You could change the input shaft and drill and tap four holes in the case and it could be used in any model A. The early bell housing and pedals if not badly worn would be worth 35 to 50 dollars and more if the pedal pads still have good lines. The early flywheels can be used to back lug bolts in the hubs when swedgeing, I wish that I hadn't sold the last one that I had.
Use to be people didn't want the early clutch and brake setups, I still don't. With increased interest in bhringing back the old obsolete parts by some, you may could get a good price. |

Re: Early 28 Transmission
Just how early, Not George? I'm looking for an engine number within a very specific range to match my chassis (roughly A156500). If it's in that range I could certainly be interested.

Re: Early 28 Transmission
Whoops, I read that to be an entire drivetrain! My son and I drove almost 300 miles in a 30 roadster today and I guess fatigue is setting in!
