Default Starting an engine after almost 40 years

Had this old motor for a long time, it’s worn out and has 0 compression on some cylinders and had a couple broken spark plus, started after a lot of cranking and engine start, I will attempt to fire up another one witch is even worse

That was cool,,,,,it sounded better than some new rebuilds I have seen .
Lol.
It amazed me,,,,you got it timed and running in no time,,,,,some people here can’t get a new rebuild to even fire without a team of helpers .
Good job man .

I have always found that it is much easier to get an engine started and running if you can rig up a "regular" fuel supply (either from a gravity fed auxiliary tank or the original tank and pump). It works much better than just "winging it".

I loved the video. It never ceases to amaze me, as to how little it takes to get one of these running. So the next time you are looking at your pristine engine and thinking of giving up, the engine gods have spoken. Makes me want to go out and buy an old engine just for the challenge of breathing life into it again. Nothing more satisfying. Thanks again for sharing the video.

Dang; fresh coffee stains all over my keyboard!
Thanks, Tinker and Rudolph; you made my day!

("Yep, I can make that run..." And I'm worried the engine in
my coupe is stuck after sitting 55yrs. w/ 0 miles on it?)

My dad bought a 40 Ford that had been sitting in a chicken coop for some 30 odd years. He said that he changed the plugs, oil, and put some fresh gas in it and drove it home.
There's another video out there of a flathead running with one of the heads off.

Maybe the reason ours don't run, is that they have too many things hooked up to them: fans, water pumps, generator, transmission.
