Holley 94 throttle shaft project.

I've been trying to build up two carbs for a dual setup up. Everything from my stash needs a oversize throttle shaft. I was just about to order another shaft kit when I thought about repairing the old one. I was able to remove the peened over backs of the plate screws without destroying anything so thought I'd give it a try. Since the replacements tell you to use to 9/32 drill to bore out the body I used 9/32 brass tubing. I turned the old shaft down on each end. I'm using the end opposite the throttle linkage as a bushing so it's a slip fit, the other side a slight press fit. It's trapped so it can't go anywhere anyway. I didn't bore out the body, I spun the shaft and gently took material off with 400 wet/dry with a little oil on it until I got the fit I wanted. The bushing was a slight press fit with a couple drops of "sleeve retainer". I drilled the shaft for 6-32 threads and hold it all together with a screw, lock, and flat washer. I spent all afternoon doing this, could've just bought a new shaft for $28 shipped, but it was a fun project. I can't let Mart have all the fun.

I think you did the right thing. The last oversize throttle shafts I installed (from Ecklers "Mac's") had crappy levers on the end. I ended up removing them and reworking the shafts to use the original levers. It came out fine, but I like what you did.

Great job!
I’m not lucky enough to have a lathe so I ended up ordering the speedway shafts. Like you Tubman I reused the original levers.
I have rebuilt seven of them this way and they all worked out really good.
