The cars that built America.
I know its a rerun of a series that History Channel premiered a couple years ago buy still humourous.Henry Ford introducing the Model T Ford replacement the new Model A Ford and he uncovers a 1931 sedan with a stone guard . Later GM executives are testing out a Chevy "hot rod " with a Ford engine only it is a '55 or a '56 Mercury with a flathead which is also weird. With this test drive Chevrolet begins to look into developing a small block V8 to compete with the Ford V8. Seems like they went out of their way to get it wrong,at least pick an early 50's car with a flathead V8 to get somewhere closer.

Re: The cars that built America.
The history channel is putting out some inaccurate shows, the worst was the one where they solved the Amelia Earhart mystery which had such a fatal flaw in it that they never showed that one again. I started to watch the Ford one just to see the cars but couldn't bring myself to do it. I guess TV is more fun to watch when one doesn't pay attention to the facts.

Like the Hawaii-50 that was supposed to be a flash back to 1941 Pearl Harbor, they are driving a 1948 Ford cop car with an automatic on the column. Must be there are no pre WWII cars in Honolulu.

I was watching that History Cars show when it first came out and then quit because of all the inaccuracies. You would think they would have researched better since car nuts would be the majority viewing it.

I'm a history buff so nothing disgusts me more than folks that think they can make up their own history to put money in their own pockets. The true story is always more interesting than the BS. They just don't get it. |
