I took my ‘41 through a toll both and the attendant started to tell me that’s the kind of car Bonny & Clyde used, I didn’t argue I just paid my toll and left.

When people ask about my car, I always tell them that I bought it new and that I only have one more payment to make.

I like the ones who without a "by your leave" help themselves to opening the doors, standing on the running boards, attempting to open the hood, and ruining locking hubcaps by trying to lift the cover rather than slide it to the side.

Same thing with the Monarch. "Oh a Mercury Monarch" NO, even though they look very similar, its a Monarch or its a Mercury. Can't be both. Am I being too fussy? I don't think so.

You are at a show, come back to your car, and people are sitting in it!

I was getting bagels, had the car setup to start, just hadn’t touched the starter button.
A guy comes over, “ is that one of them cars you have to hand crank”, I offer up the hand crank to him, he jumps back and raises both hands and says NO, all the while talking to him I get out and give the crank a pull then go to get back in the car—— he asked about cranking the car, must not have seen me crank it, I tell him it is running, he is very surprised, saying he can’t even hear it running, amazed that it took so little effort , he still didn’t want to try it though

I can top that. After a vintage race, I had my hemi-powered mod on display on the frontstretch along with the rest of the cars so the spectators could mingle. I heard a guy tell his teen-age son; "See? That's a flathead; you can tell because the spark plugs are in the middle of the head".

Had a fellow come to buy a "Rustang" NOS factory rear quarter. We had a conversation and he was convinced 55-57 T-Birds were unibodies like stangs. I had to bring out books to prove my point that they did indeed have frames. I think he still left scratching his head thinking he was right ! Just can't argue enough some times.

I had a guy argue with me that my '42 Fordor was a Mercury. The problem really was that due to WWII '42 Fords were never sold new in New Zealand. He just saw the vertical grille bars and made the assertion that it must be a Mercury :P

Or all the ridiculous questions the cop asked me when he pulled me over one night and I handed him my registration for this '79 toyota landcruiser. Some guys just don't get it.....

Now that's funny! Did you tell them it was "numbers matching"?

I usually tell them that if Social Security paid me better, I might be able to afford a newer car...

I can't keep track of the times I've been asked if I am the original owner.
