Default RT 66 motel remodel

hey folks I know it is not flathead stuff but kinda related :

Kingman couple revives old motel with a little help from Elvis, Marilyn

KINGMAN (AP) — It’s been half a century since the neon signs at the El Trovatore Motel illuminated Route 66 in Kingman, but for about a week now those signs have been on in all their green, red and orange glory.

Ambitious project.
Pictures would have been nice.
Although I prefer the real old preservation/restorations such as this one we stayed in Seligman, AZ on our Route 66 trip. Very nostalgic. Built in the 20's.

They even left the dirt/gravel parking lot.

Check out the old curved plaster where walls meet walls and ceiling. Love it. The sink, of course, is not original.

OK, here's one in true colors now that you've got the flavor of the place in black and white. Yeah, they had to put the crappy satelite dishes on the roof. I took them off for the B&W.

Interesting history about the El Travatore:

The El Trovatore motel is one of the few pre-World War II tourist courts left in Kingman. The business started in 1937 as a service station, with the tourist court added later in 1939, at which time it was $3 per night and was the first motel air-conditioned in the state. It was first owned by John F. Miller who also was the builder/owner of the first hotel in Las Vegas, The Sal Sagev (Las Vegas spelled backwards), which was built in 1906 and is now known as the Golden Gate Hotel.

Here are some pictures of the El Travatore both past and present: http://eltrovatoremotel.com/
