Default Marvel Mystery Olil

Hi, I could see that there is a couple of different types of Marvel Mystery oil (not sold here in SWEDEN). Which one is the correct for use in a Model A?
Will try to by online....
Keep up the good forum!

The original one is the only one I've ever used on engines. It's available in different volume containers depending on how much is needed. The only other that I've used is the air tool oil. They show the other single type to be sold out.

There's new labeling for the 100th anniversary. Looks a little different from the old labeling.

Feurst Choice - After reading the extensive debates on its merits here on Ford Barn, I recently bought Marvel Mystery Oil for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised because it smells like wintergreen (vintergrön)! I’ve added it to the gasoline and to the oil and I have no idea if it makes any difference at all. This is because I have no control group for the experiment.
However, one thing I can say with absolute certainty: it smells like wintergreen, reminds me of Christmas.

I purchase MMO from Walmart online by the gallon. Only use in as a gas additive and air tool lubricant.

Hi Tomas,

i ordered my MMO here, in Belgium:

and don't ask me whether it has any positive effect or not, i don't know... I take it as part of the 'vintage car experience'.

Frankly, I do not believe in putting any additional additives in motor oil and gasoline. However, if you put MMO in the gasoline, I suggest you periodically inspect the combustion color of your spark plug tips. Also be mindful that MMO reduces the viscosity of your motor oil, so if using 10W30, I would use 10W40 instead.

The Marvel Mystery Oil debate will go on, ad nauseum.

I use 5 ounces of MMO per tankful every fill-up for one simple reason - to keep a light oily film inside the fuel tank to counteract the effects of our ethanol laced gasoline which invites water and therefore RUST. Since I have trace amounts of rust showing up in my glass sediment bowl, I use it as a rust preventative. I'm not trying to sell it for anything else.

As far as the potential to foul spark plugs, I have never had the issue with MMO. As a dirt bike rider for many years, our motorcycles were of the 2 stroke design which required a specific oil be mixed with the gasoline to provide engine lubrication, like chain saw & weed eater engines. When mixed at the recommended ratios, plug fouling was not an issue for me either.

There may or may not be other benefits to be had by using it in the gas (or oil), but that's what I use it for.

I don't put it in my oil regularly, but I do put it in the crankcase a few days before an oil change to get any deposits dissolved. Seems to work. I hope we're not getting into another 3 page debate. To each his own.

MMO may also help prevent vapor lock.

I use 4-6 oz per tank, more in the summer and less in the winter, but then again, I live in the desert. It's a daily driver and I've been driving an hour or so at a time in temps 100-110 and my engine just doesn't care. I also buy my MMO buy the gallon.

The way I look at it, the engine is 92-years old, so why not? It's an insurance policy for less than $1.00 per tank

Regards
Bill

I mix it half and half with moonshine and use it for mosquito repellent. Works great and smells much better than the stuff they sell in stores.

I always use 4 ounces to tank full of gas. Never use it in the oil as what is the point with modern oil. As to whether it does anything.....who knows. Why do you think they call it "Mystery" oil?

You drink the shine and smear the oil on for repellant.
