What is the hardest Model A accessory to find

I love that column lock! I've got a lock for a 33-36 shift tower. I think those aftermarket locks are neat!

Probably not the hardest accessory to find and introduced late in Model T production, but neat to keep around. I need to find the correct bulb for it and see if I can make a decent looking repair on the wires at some point. Rod

I have seen the fender lights, and they are miniature versions of the cowl lights of the applicable years.

Fender lights were standard fitment on all English built cars and trucks so you would think they were plentifull, not so !!! Like hens teeth here in England now .I was missing one for my 28 phaeton and got one at the Big Three swap meet at the Qualcom stadium San Diego last place I would expect to find one . Identical to an English lamp but with a yellow glass USA lens not like the violet lens in my English ones .

Were the fender lights a 3rd party add on that Ford garage would do? Any pictures?

They were real Ford accessory And I have looked for years for a set and never found any,the tube type tire gauge with Ford script in it is very rare have only ever seen two in my 65 years playing with model a fords.

While working on my steering column, I mistakenly threw away or accidentally dropped my top flange (the unit with the notches in it for spark/gas) in the trash basket. Searching to replace the part was impossible. None, of a large bunch of parts/supply dealers don’t stock or sell this part. Pictorial pages in parts catalogs show the part, but it is not listed for sale.
It was imperative, I needed this item. Posting my dilemma - An “A” owner from -ford barn- wrote back to me and said, to try Bert’s Model A Center (303 293 3673). Wow, they had the part ! $20.00 plus SH , I’m now back in business.

The fender lights were fitted at the factory on English built cars and trucks .They were required by law all English cars of any make had to have them to mark the width of the vehicle .better than a two bulb headlamp .English headlamps are not marked"Two Lite" on the top they all came with single bulb reflectors as the car had fender lights .

I haven't seen any spare tire locks yet. This one has a chrome plated lock with an original key stamped A 1470. Fits 19" wheels. Would this key also fit a pop out switch of the same number?

In 1931 you could buy these keyed the same as the door lock...that's what I have.

The lamp heads are identical to the cowl lights; the hard parts to find are the mounting arms, shielded wire and whatever clips used on the fender brackets. They used a dash switch with early 3-position lighting switches, but connect directly into the later 4-pos.

The fender lamps really look sharp, but I have never seen any on a car. Other than the UK which required them as John has said, the big market that used them was Argentina which may be a source. But because fenders were subject to damage, I would presume any fender lamps would be hard to find there as well.
All the front fender braces [ pressed] have a drilled top hole for the wire to fit fender lamps, even my late '29 Canadian Tudor. Stay sane.

Here's a bunch of the fender lights I have collected over the years....some '28-29's and '30-31's as well as a commercial vehicle fender light (painted black). Note also the original armored cable on some:


Though they may look like cowl lights, they are actually smaller than the basic cowl lights with different sized lenses and insides as well.

The side housing had a planetary gear set-up that provided a reduction much like the 2-speed rear axles on modern-era trucks. The unit really was not an overdrive but an underdrive. There was a lever mounted inside of the cabin, -typically beside the transmission shift lever that shifted the rear axle. The rod you are seeing is what the lever controls.
