I know a guy here in town with a '31 Deluxe Pickup.

Real nice guy and an amazing and rare pickup.

Anyone have pics of one of those?

Sam

Sam: I only have one period image of a De Luxe pickup. It's not really an "A;" it's a GAZ... and the picture was taken in Moscow in 1933. I've always relished two things about this image: (1) Joe Stalin produced a "De Luxe" model, and (2) Young people everywhere enjoyed having their pictures taken with Model "A's!" Enjoy.

Ever notice how those running boards and fenders still attract a lot of good looking women! How do they do it?

(1) My running boards still attract attracive women.
(2) Don... good for you! Keep us posted.
(3) Luke... I've deliberately held off on posting GAZ WWII images. Having said that, your GAZ production line image prompts me to post this one:

That's a Fordor mounted on a AA chasis with a PU bed on the back. It's also in the current issue of Antique Automobile magazine.

Many of us are familiar with the WWII roles played by "AA's" produced in England and Germany and GAZ "AA's" produced in the Soviet Union.

Here are a couple of images from an earlier conflict... the Brazilian Revolution of 1930.

Looks like the Brazilians opted for the extra-cost bumpers on the phaeton, but not on the commercial vehicles.

That is Ezra Meeker in his "Model A Covered Wagon". He was quite a self-promoting pioneer who made an effort to draw attention to preserving what was left of The Oregon Trail.

My '29 Panel Delivery in 1971 and now. The rest of the story is here: http://www.thefreemancenter.com/Free...y_History.html

I've also been part of a "Yahoo Group" of Model A Panel owners for a few years. We are always looking for others who are interested in these old trucks.

Ford AA truck 1931 (FP 1 - 1)

A new search for armored vehicles started in 1930. After looking at vehicles as the Carden-Loyd VI Light Tank and the French Autochienille de Cavallerie M 1928, economy forced the Army to build their own vehicles for evaluation. The chassis chosen was a Ford, and the "armor" was made of steel-plates which made it possible to alter the vehicle when required.
The truck was armed with a 20 mm machine canon and 2 machine guns.
Evaluation of this new vehicle started in October 1931 where it participated in a spring exercise. The vehicle didīnt perform that well, and by the end of the year the project was cancelled.

Ford AA truck 1931 (FP 1 - 2)

New trials took place starting in May in 1932 with a modified version of the Ford truck (FP 1 - 2). Results from the trials not available.
