Default Date Stamp question on intake flat ??

I am trying to identify the year of my motor.
The date stamp on intake flat is (?) 24 H. See attached picture.
From what I have read it indicates (unreadable month)24th day of 1947.
The 1947 motors had a round style distributor, located in the front/middle.
My motor has a top mounted distributor, 1949-1953, and has the 5/8" wide V belts.
I have read that 1948 trucks also had the top front mounted distributor.
My pan has the round cleanout and the heads say EAB. I know these may have come from any motor.
Does the information I have make my motor built late in 1947 for the 1948 the truck line?
Thanks for any help.

HI Everyone. I'm no expert here Dan 1939, but from what I understand you need to identify the block using characteristics of the casting.

Hopefully you find something good in this thread: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...tion&showall=1

It's impossible to say for sure.

It sounds like you have a late series flathead. They were produced 1948 (truck) thru 1953 (US) and 1954 (CAN)

Your heads are '52/'53 and the oil pan is for a truck.

The stamping you pictured is missing a character. The typical date code, IF it has one, is a letter/number/letter. I'd say it's more likely the block was assembled 24 August.

You'd have to open it up and find distinguishing details to get a better idea. Rotating valves? Numbers on the crank?

If it runs, just enjoy it!

Not all 8RT/8BA/8CM/EAB/EAC series engines had date stamps and if they did, this is an example as located on the passenger rear side of the intake mount surface. (as indicated by C-10-G)
