Default distributor body with two notches

I picked up this distributor body at a swap meet. I was looking at it the other day and noticed it has two alignment notches molded into it. One is at the correct spot, the other is 90 degrees away. What would be the purpose of the other notch?

Huh. So if the B can use the same style body, why did Ford bother changing the pin location?

I have found that the body with two notches will sometimes be poorly made. It is USA made but the body with only one notch, while made overseas, is more consistently higher quality.

I haven't run it yet but it fits well on the casting. I'll probably try it out this weekend.

We found the leads were not equal inside and closer or interfering with the rotor and being far away on the other side. So you might crank it slowly around to make sure the rotor doesn't hit any of the leads inside the body.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a 2 notch that came off my 31 tudor. It has proper gap on 2 pins and almost touches the other 2. The engine was running ok. Found bad wire in the dist. Guess you have to check everything very carefully.
