Re: Radiator flushing
Mitch..
Can you tell me more about the rad cleaner? Is there a way to determine if the rad should and can be cleaned? Specific name of the product? Where to buy? Sorry for so many questions. Larry |

on a good operating cooling system i prefer not to open a can of worms by performing a vinegar or evapo treatment. doing that tends to break loose solids that can ruin a free flowing radiator. on those i prefer a drain and refill only.. many have thought they were doing preventive maintenance this way later to find out otherwise. on a system that is not cooling properly i use the evapo rust to dissolve as much rust / scale that i can then use a flush pipe to pump it out before feeding it back into the rad. on these cases they most likely need a new rad also but i try to flush it as best i can then run it with the radiator hooked up. then after further evaluation i usually change out the radiator if needed but flush it again before hand with a pvc pipe. this method of diagnosis and attack has worked for me . an ancient cooling system needs to be treated as such Last edited by Mitch//pa; 07-26-2015 at 01:22 AM. |
