Chris, you are correct a small number of straight firewalls were re-stamped in May of 1931 and used there after according to the judging standards. Thank you for tip.

I saw one on an unrestored pickup, and it was easy to spot. Never got into the "Judging standards" deal but how is the finish of these firewalls looked at? Ugly as stamped is ok but smoothed over old flattened rib not ok? Bob

Re: 1931 doubled stamp firewall .
I have an indented, re-stamped firewall '31 Deluxe Tudor. Henry was frugal, when the gas shutoff was moved to the engine compartment and the firewall was indented behind it in ~May '31 he re-stamped 1930 firewalls (waste not want not) and re-purposed them for the '31s for a time. On my firewall you can see the 4 data plate rivet holes that were not filled after the re-stamping of the '30 firewall that's on my Dlxe Tudor; the data plate was moved more to the center of the firewall outside of the indented area leaving the 4 data plate rivet holes in plain site. Henry didn't try to fill them for cosmetic improvement on my A and maybe others.
I'll try to post some pictures in a bit.
