I am currently doing a ground up restoration on a 29 business coupe with a rumble seat and I really need some help. Unfortunately it was in bad shape and I only ended up with the subrails and two good body side panels and no crosswise body channels. This makes it very hard to figure out. I have been looking for details and pictures on putting a complete new floor and information is not there.I need details on the floor area. Does the seat riser rivet to the lower forward side of the second cross member with the small front pan over it? Are the 5 holes in the top of the hump of the seat riser used to join the rear floor pan to it or are they used to fasten the wood seat frame? I would really appreciate getting some pictures and details of this area. Also pictures of the wood seat frames, where they are attached and picture and any detail of the upper wood kit installation.

29 business coupe's did not have rumble seats. Rod

It seems to me that rumble seats in standard coupes, special coupes and business coupes are not all that desirable, in that there is no way to converse with the driver or passenger in the front seat, as there is solid glass in the rear of the cab. On roadsters and sports coupes, there are flaps that fold up to allow communications with the people in the front seat. I suspect I will probably get some flack for my opinion. The other undesirable thing, in my opinion, about rumble seats is there is little room for luggage or storage in the rumble seat as the cushion and seatback occupy a lot of space. Coupes don't have all that much trunk storage space to begin with. This is just my opinion, so take it for what you paid for it ($0).

Both points are definitely valid, and should be considered before making the switch. I find that I usually have two in the rumble seat, so the communication to those inside is only a minor problem - but it can be a problem. The loss of trunk space is real, and should be considered carefully.

I wish my 54A still had a trunk. The RS is unsafe and impractical.
