Town Car details

After that recent posting about a 1929 Town Car for sale, I thought it might be of interest to post a few photos of the Town Car in the Lyon Car Collection here in S. California. My wife has worked for Gen. Lyon for almost 30 years, so I have had the honor and privilege of seeing his awesome car collection over a dozen times over the years. As I remember him telling, this Town Car was part of the purchase he made from the Harrah Collection, back in the 1980's. Here are a few photos I made of it some years ago, some showing the exquisite pin stripping and also the interior.

Interesting luggage rack. Is that original to the Town Car?

Back in the early 1970's I was working on a Sat. & had a call in downtown Los Angeles on Hope St. There was a 29 Town Car parked on the street, it was the 1st one I had ever seen. I had no idea they were rare & thought it looked neat. At the time I had a 30 CC pick up so I left a note on the W/S asking if he wanted to trade. Needless to say I never got a response to my note.

information you probably know. and im just repeating it. the town cars had cast top hinges on the front doors as this one does.

Is the collection still intact? Is it ever available for public viewing?

that is both understandable and funny! who wouldve guessed? a model A worth

Yes, the Lyon Automotive collection is still intact, but no, it is not open to the public. However, every year several cars, such as Packards, Dusenbergs, and Mercedes are displayed at the Lyon Air Museum at the Orange County Airport. Many years ago, I was able to arrange a special tour & visit to the car museum for our local Model A Club, and we had over 30 cars in attendance. Gen. Lyon is now 94 years old and not seen as much as years past.
