Like DD says...pictures/details/location are minimally necessary, if wanting serious evaluation of equipment ! BTW...if it is a '37 V8 60 block, is it the 'TIN SIDED' block ? Last edited by hardtimes; 04-29-2017 at 04:31 PM. Reason: ............. |

They sure look great 'dressed up', eh ! Good pictures. My only reservation is the tin sided situation. I had one and had to try epoxy to seal tin leaks. I do not weld and did not have any sealing experience at that time. I think that before you sell, to get most $....put coolant in and pressurize and/or run it. This is so that you can state emphatically that it runs good and does not leak...just an opinion. With all the dressing and with knowledge of no leaks and runs good, I'd guess that someone will pay 3K +/- ? Hm, what is 3/4 '32 ?? Last edited by hardtimes; 04-30-2017 at 12:31 PM. Reason: ...... |

Re: 1937 v/8 60 complete engine
Hey, I know that engine. It was in my 3/4 scale roadster. Good engine, no leaks. Low miles. I replaced it with a Chev 4 cylinder with powerglide, so my wife could drive it. Guessing it has 200 miles on it since rebuilt.

Re: 1937 v/8 60 complete engine
The first V8 60 blocks were cast with the water jackets exposed on both sides of the block, then thin stainless steel plates were welded on to enclose the water jackets.
I imagine this method made the blocks cheaper/easier to cast. |

This information will help sell. Tin side (I guess, actually stainless...hey, did they have 'stainless' in '37 ). This must have been the idea of some body special, so as to get it past Henry and into production. As said, HAD to be cost savings in there somewhere...but what a dumb idea, IMO. I put this in with having to pull an engine to change spark plugs ! |

Re: 1937 v/8 60 complete engine
That engine was built by my son in law (deceased) when he worked for Adams Custom Engines. They are/were antique restorers in Reno. He died before I received the engine from my daughter, so I only know that it was rebuilt by a pro. The only thing that was lacking was rebuilding the water pumps, which I rebuilt shortly after it first was run. It was in his planning to run a blower. I chose to run the two 81 carbs. It has late model pressure plate (diaphram), clutch plate and throw out bearing. Still uses stock type fork that has been modified to work with throw out bearing.
