Default Fender bead repair

Does anyone have experience using all or a portion of the front fender bead repair sold by Snyder's? Is the bead correct?

I'm sorry but I don't but I would think it would be easier to repair the bad section. I find it hard to believe that the entire edge would be bad but the rest of the fender good.

Theirs is close but no cigar unless changed in the last few years
But small. Find the correct curvature off a donor fender and splice.
It generally works better to splice in a small piece than try to deal with what's there especially if anyone has bugger with it before!

What am I missing?
Why is it better to cut out a crack and weld in a larger patch that gets welded on three sides, instead of welding one line of a crack.

I understand wanting a wire in the bead that goes beyond the crack, but that involves unrolling the edge and splicing in a short length of new wire.

He does not state what he is trying to fix. So the best we can do is answer is question.

The way I understand it, there are stresses that appear at that specific spot in the fender by the simple fact of fender mounting and vibration. Welding the crack does not return the metal to the same molecular state as the it was original. The weld is harder than the base metal and the metal near the crack is hardened just by the fact that it was heated. thus, the vibration and the forces that caused the crack in the first place will find it real easy to start the crack along side the weld.

Now by placing a piece of "virgin" metal at that stress location will keep the crack from following any hardened metal weld.

Like I said that is how I understand it.
