Default piston fit

ok old timers I purchased a NOS set of JAHNS 3 ring pistons at a swap meet and have no paper work to show piston fit. They look like cast Pistons looking on the inside of the skirts where I found the manufactures mark (JAHNS). any idea where I should clearance the piston to wall fit. I'm using them in a 53 Mercury flathead build. stock all the way as for heads and intake nothing hoped up
just a good street engine for my F1 Ford truck

John these are probably not a good street pistons. They were a racing pistons back in the day that needed extra clearance for racing and their design. They are soft and scuff easily. Forged racing style pistons made today like. Ross can be run much tighter and run on street with zero issues. Personally I would not run these on the street period. Just my two cents.

Those are old POOR quality race pistons. They need at least .005 clearance and will be noisy for the street. Oil control will be marginal.

John, I will stop by in the coupe to pick up an ashtray; I need a new bad habit. The engine you built is running beautifully since I finally sorted out the mess I made of the ignition (crappy spiral wound spark plug wires).
