Here is a larger picture of your two 1933/1934 Ford Glove Box Lids to suit the Factory Ford Radio. |

Re: 33/34 glove box radio mount question
Back in 2017, I attended a local Swap Meet and came across this example of a 1933/1934 Ford Glove Box Lid that was especially made to suit a vehicle with the Ford Factory Radio. It was for sale at a substantial amount. As I did not need it, I merely took a photo of it and sent the photo to my friend from down south who was into 1933/1934 Fords. Luckily, I kept the contact details and was able to pass them on to my friend, as he told me that he wanted to buy it. He managed to purchase it, so it went to a good home. This example looks to be the same as the lower one in your photo. I hope that this helps? |

Re: 33/34 glove box radio mount question
The upper panel in the photo I would bet is a reproduction. I have had a couple of these and they dont fit very well especially around the circular dial which I had to file out quite a bit. I ended up paying for originals (bottom photo) which fit perfectly. Originals can be pretty pricey and fairly scarce. My radios were Grigsby-Grunow and the local Australian produced Ford radios which have differences to the two USA sets mainly in the internals and the speaker grille. Regards, Kevin.

Re: 33/34 glove box radio mount question
And the dark one is like the one in my 33 also. Unfortunately, the 3rd owner before me was a guy who restored 33/4 radios and of course, installed one in the car I now own (and he added the cowl lights too). IF I ever restore this car (mine is a fairly rare standard model) I will remove the radio and cowl lights. As long as the original top holds together I will just drive it like it is as the original engine, trans steering, brakes and wiring and fuel system have all been restored. It also has 16" wires, another previous owner covered the stock interior with 50s blue dinette set vinyl. I have an album with a few pictures of the car.
