Saturdays pleasure
Hello Barners
went for a little trip yesterday with the 34 Tudor. My buddy is always riding shotgun. This time we went to a Locomotive shed where there are several steam locs and other early railway vehicles, some working, some getting worked on. The only road to the shed leads along the rails and is signposted "watch for railway traffic" !! Back home into the sunset, showing off my Smiths Vincent motorcycle speedo. Attached some pics for you. |

Re: Saturdays pleasure
That Vincent Motorcycle Speedometer look excellent.
How did you get it to work correctly with your speedometer gear on the torque tube? What speedometer cable did you use? |

Re: Saturdays pleasure
The Smiths Chronometric is a pure mechanical speedo and can be calibrated by changing weights on the balance assembly once your driving ratio is close to what is needed. I used the Ford speedometer cable and made an adapter to the Smiths clock. As my Vincent motorcycle has the big 5" speedo I thought this might be a nice addition and found that the face dial and the complete Smiths works fits inside the Ford speedo housing and adapted the Ford needle. Until now I had it up to 135 but the next(blown) engine should push the needle a little further to the other side ;-)
