Default Once again my truck has an aditude

I have always said my trucks eaither haunted or has an aditude problem. Every time I let it sit for a week something dumb happens. I had surgery in October and in November I started driveing it as a daily driver. Only recently did I have to stop driveing again due to medical issues. So the old girl sat for 3 weeks. Yesterday I said to hell with every one doctors and girlfriends alike I'm going for a drive. Well it was me and a buddy picked some gass up and headed over to fill her up.we decided to retune her be for we took off. Now with retimed motor all set we took off and mad she ran good too good to the point were I was worried lol its not normal for her to run that good well we stoped in at my buddies house for a few upon leaving she wouldn't start. Took some choking and messingmy theory around but she finally ran. Now were comeing home about 3 streets away when she lost powere and died she was only running on one cylinder and after the stuggled start she had been back firing like mad. Found out I had good gass flow into carb but not out of jets had some shit in them my thery is shit clogged carb made lean mix keen mix fryed my cheep autolite plugs only getting spark out of one at moment. I ran to the store, bought 4 new ones and a new condenser going to retork head and manifold nuts and retimed dizzy and replace new plugs and condenser today. I would have yeasterday but I started feeling too weak. Is there any thing elce you folks can think of that I am over looking

Sounds like she has one of those breathalizer thingys that won't let the engine start.

Take the carb off and using compressed air, blow through all the passages. Check the intake filter also. Drain and clean sediment bowl.

It sounds to me like a fuel problem. What is the condition of your tank? You might try the dirty leg on shut off valve for awhile if has crud in it.

Might want to check to see if the intake/exhaust manifold is tight......

I think throwing parts at a problem is not the way to really discern a remedy. If it quit running, go over the last thing you touched and make sure it is still functioning as it should. Ignition working properly makes a long blue spark at the plugs. Timed right it gets to the plugs at the right moment. the carb has one lousy bolt to remove to check it and blow out the passages so that checked and if you have compression and no air leaks, your car will run. Remember that any new part out of the box my be faulty.

My offer still stands. Pay my air fare to MA, and I'll take the damn thing off your hands.

Dirty points can make it hard to start. If they close up enough, i've seen it where they will run on two cylinders--so maybe if they closed up a lot it would only run on 1 cylinder.

You might also remove the fuel line that is attached to the carburetor, Blow it out and ensure it is not plugged. Run a coat hanger wire from the fuel line connection on the fire wall through to the tank. Blow it out with air to ensure it is open. You could be starving for fuel due to either being plugged with crud.

So Iv put new plugs in, retimed, reset point gap no .021, cleaned any tarnish off brass conecters on dissy body and roter and plug srips. I made sure I had clearance of .035 between Rotor and dissy body took carburetor and cleaned it then took throttle shaft out and sautered to it to get a tighter fit in carb body as to elimat air leaks. I then retorqued head and manifold bolts and checked all fuses and inspected all wires for any mets in the insulation she started up ran shity and back fired.

Just a couple more things. The rotor to dist body gap should be .025. Have you tried changing out the condensor?

Check the wire between your distributor plates. With the distributor body off, and key on, turn the engine over and look for any arcing between the wire and the dist. housing.
That will cause it to misfire all over the place, although it might still run.
