There’s a later ‘31 mail truck on eBay right now and closes in about three days. Very rough, nowhere near as nice. Take a lot of $ to get close to yours.

very true. as with most model As, best to buy the best and not get involved..........

If one restores cars for a living, they better make a profit at it. If one is a hobbyist, not so much. I'm the latter and I figure I'm doing well to break even. Any loss is just the cost of the enjoyment I get from restoring and driving the car.

I might agree with "buy the best and not get involved" with a common body style. But a rare model like a mail truck may warrant the expense, even if one goes underwater on it.

I love the mail trucks Chud, but by what they sell for, I guess most dont agree.

other problem is the parking space. One needs a barn, not a garage.

Yeah, they're not very practical. Sadly, my advanced age and infirmity means dreaming is all I now can do Model-A-wise. But if I was in the market for one and found say, a 29 Tudor (the highest production body style IIRC) in the condition of the eBay truck, I'd probably pass it by. But I think it's a good thing (assuming one has the resources, monetary and otherwise) to preserve the rare vehicles, even at a monetary loss.

I was interested in the one on ebay, and had a dialogue with the owner.

I am realizing I am too deep on too many projects and need to learn to back off. I have a lifetime of restorations already and dont need one more. As a matter of fact, fingers crossed the 41 convertible is sold on ebay this weekend.
