Default Mart's 32 at the Pendine VHRA Hot Rod Races. Part 1. Friday and Saturday.

Hello and welcome to Mart's Garage. Finally it is time to take the 32 down to Pendine for the 2022 Hot Rod Races. This video shows Fridays drive down and some snips from Saturday's racing. Be sure to look out for part 2!
Thanks to all who have been following the big inch flatty build and the Pendine Prep series.

Thanks Mart for the take along. Congrats on your runs. Happy to see it’s all good so far.

Do you guys camp out or rent a room?

Looks like a great gathering of vintage iron. Your car seemed to run well. Nice display of newer vehicles in the parking lot too.

Once again, a GREAT video, Mart! Really appreciate you taking us along. The car seems to run very well. It continues to amaze me just how many really well-done, REAL hot rods that you blokes have managed to gather and run over there on the other side of The Pond. A lot of you's guys do some really nice work that y'all can certainly be proud to show! Coop

The number is your VHRA club membership number.
The letters are explained here: http://www.vhra.co.uk/pendine-sands-hot-rod-races

If you scroll down to the red rectangles and click on the 2022 results you can see how everybody ran.

Mart ....I have to wonder if this is the old "Dean Lowe" roadster pick-up from California back in the early '60s. I'm almost positive that car ended-up in England many years ago. Dean raced this car on Sundays, and drove it to school on Monday morning. Surely, many of you hard-core hot-rodders will remember this "Hot Rod Magazine" cover shot from decades ago! Coop

Yes, the Steve Hill Roadster pickup is/was the Dean Lowe roadster pickup. Steve found the car completely dismantled on a visit to the states. They were pulling parts from here there and everywhere. There was a long running thread on the hamb about it. Steve got some completely undeserved negative flak for daring to buy such an icon.

Wow Mart....Thanks a bunch for that update! I remember reading years back that the car was so "cool and accepted" at the high school where Dean attended, that the car had it's own, designated parking space in a prestigious location in the school's parking lot. For anyone interested, there is a link BELOW with dozens of photos covering the car's iconic history, including quite a few more-current photos with Steve Hill. Coop
