Things That Vibrate
In your opinion, what are the most annoying things that vibrate, shimmy, shake and tamp in the Model "A"?
I am working on a presentation about vibrations in the Model "A," and I want to be sure I discuss the most annoying ones, so your comments will be of help.

Re: Things That Vibrate
The front windshield squeeks where it touches the windshield frame to body. A little vaseline takes care of it for a while. Kind of a fingernail on chalkboard sounding squeek. :0

Re: Things That Vibrate
Mine is the top of the drivers side front window.. I have tried tape, and grease nothing works. Also leaks a little water. The back tray on my coupe vibrates where it meets the metal part. really annoying. Guess thats part of what makes them interesting.

Re: Things That Vibrate
The worst noise I HAD was the muffler "heat shield" that had cracked on one side and clanked with every road bump!!! Second is a set of brake rod "anti rattlers that RATTLE because they cracked at the mounting point. I have net gotten then changed yet... Got a set of the '31"wire" type anti rattlers as a replacement based on many reviews and experiences from Ford Barn members.
I probably have many of the other noises but just not able to hear them over the first two... but those issues will soon be history!! |

Re: Things That Vibrate
The clutch pedal vibrates against the floorboard when I shift into 3rd gear. I usually stop it by putting my left foot under the pedal to hold it still.

Re: Things That Vibrate
Steering column buzzing, it makes your hands numb! Not the horn rod but the column, mines the column drop to column connection.

Re: Things That Vibrate
There is a @#*&$ squeak that I installed! Top side rail wood in my Tudor. Apparently I missed just a teensy bit of anti squeak and it is intermittent enough to drive me nuts but my wife and others who all have better hearing than me .... don’t seem to mind or care. But I do!

Re: Things That Vibrate
More of a squeak, not a rattle
I use Bees Wax on door rubber bumpers, and usually lasts a driving season. I have an old toilet wax ring that I cut off piece, put in a zip lock baggy, and store in my truck. |

Bob, it's all that stuff you carry for "just in case".
I hope to tag mine here soon and find out what what noises I have on the hiway. Oh, and see if my jb welded block holds. Mr 30 closed cab, I have a used wax toilet seal/ring I'll send if you if you want? |
